The movie, which premiered in Berlin, deals with the troublesome days of a small girl within the family she was adopted by. Summer 1993, which is Carla Simon’s first feature film, tells its story straightforward without any agitation. After her parents’ death, 6-year-old Frida is adopted by her uncle and aunt. Frida reflects her longing for her mother sometimes by praying and sometimes by making her desire for compassion clear. The difficult times experienced by both little Frida and the family greets the audience with an enriched autobiographical interpretation..
