A Night For Forgiveness addresses justice and the place of women in Iranian society. Twenty-two-year-old Maryam is condemned to death for killing her husband and former boss, 65-year-old Nasser. Her only hope of reprieve from the sentence is to be forgiven by Nasser’s daughter on a live television show.
Massoud Bakhshi
Born in Tehran, in 1972, Massoud Bakhshi has worked as a film critic, scriptwriter and producer, before making 12 documentaries and short films which were awarded internationally. His first feature film A Respectable Family was selected to Cannes Film Festival in 2012. Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness, his second feature film, was selected to Sundance Film Festival and to Berlin Film Festival, Generation 14+ Competition.
