Aurora

This friendship story, told by Paz Fábrega in a simplicity that is compatible with pastel colors, is a special film that stands out with its meticulous attention to personal details. This is the story of Luisa, an architect who teaches art to young people in her spare time, and Yuli, who is coping with an unwanted pregnancy. We understand that the unwanted chance encounter of these two women, who are lonely in different ways, is a good thing for both of them, but the film rejects shorthand judgments by establishing a world where there is no good and evil, instead everyone is experiencing similar troubles and anxieties. One of the most important reasons why the result is so strong is the successful performances of the amateur actors. While both the main characters and the subtly constructed side characters invite us into their world, they do not neglect to maintain the distance that can be felt in a real-life encounter. The result is a strong and warm film that manages to make a special place for itself among films made on similar subjects.
