Futura

The journey of three Italian directors, Pietro Marcello, Francesco Munzi and Alice Rohrwacher, in February 2020, aimed to look at the future through the eyes of young people between the ages of 15-20 living all over the country. The pandemic, which broke out in the first month of the shooting, showed that these young people, whose anxiety exceeded their expectations for the future, were not wrong at all, and this added a new layer to the film and turned these already striking interviews into valuable historical documents. Futura, which does not hide its connection with the past, is a unique text for understanding the present. The wisdom of the young people who tell about their daily lives kindles a form of hope in the viewer despite all the difficulties and insecurities. Futura, shot on 16mm film, turns into a classic film reminiscent of the most powerful documentaries of the last century, thanks to its meticulous and vivid cinematography.
