A Strange Sight To Behold: The Van Lake Monster

Van Lake Monster, with its many dimensions from historical ruins to scientific research, from popular culture to childhood memories, looks at today's human condition with a critical and ironic eye. The neglected past of the monster, which is included in Urartian mythology and Evliya Çelebi's Book of Travels, promises A Strange Sight To Behold by establishing a connection with the present. Combining the ancient mythological past of the Van Lake Monster with the image of a monster, the film argues for the coexistence of differences, through the openness that life offers to all living things.

Behçet Güleryüz

Received his undergraduate degree from Bilkent University, Department of Political Science and his master's degree from Bilgi University. He received his doctorate from Marmara University in 2013 with his thesis titled "Representation of the Country in Turkish Cinema." In the same year, he received the title of Assistant Professor from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Cinema and Television Department. He is a lecturer at Marmara Faculty of Fine Arts and works in the Department of Cartoon and Animation at Haliç University.
