Ziko is an obsessed young sleepwalker who has just been banished from his village for a "serious crime" he committed while he slept. When this decision is announced to the neighboring villages, he has no choice but to go to town, in the middle of winter, crossing the villages which await him with hatred. Unaware of all this, a deaf and mute hunter must also pass through the same villages on the same day.
