Dank

Nergis is a young woman living alone. She buys a second-hand washing machine from a spot store and takes it home with the help of porter Süleyman. When the porter has difficulty carrying the machine, Nergis takes pity on him and starts to treat him warmly. She even goes out to buy the part needed to install the machine herself, leaving Süleyman alone in her house. When the machine is assembled, she invites Süleyman to sit for tea. Encouraged by this kindness, Süleyman sits at the refreshment table. Nergis starts to feel uncomfortable as soon as the conversation begins, even though she invited the man herself. The tension of being alone in the house becomes increasingly evident. After a brief attempt at conversation, cold winds blow. Finally, Süleyman gets up to leave the house and kisses Nergis on both cheeks just as they are about to shake hands. They leave the house together.

After studying at Istanbul University and Wroclaw University, she completed her master's degree in Cinema-TV at Kadir Has University. She has been working as an editor in cinema projects since 2019. The projects she edited won awards in international and national festivals. Her 3 minute short film The Beginning of the Day, which she made at home during the quarantine period received awards from festivals. Dank is her first professional film experience as a director.
