GOLDEN ORANGE LABOR AND ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
At the Antalya International Golden Orange Film Festival, the Lifetime Achievement and Achievement Awards will be presented this year to Feride Çiçekoğlu and Cansu Baydar.
The 62nd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, taking place between October 24 and November 2, 2025, will present the "Cinema Labour Award" to Feride Çiçekoğlu and the "Young Filmmaker Achievement Award" to Cansu Baydar.
Feride Çiçekoğlu completed her undergraduate and graduate education at the Middle East Technical University Faculty of Architecture and earned her doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania as a Fulbright scholar. She was tried on September 12 due to her political views. The memories she shared with a young child he met at Ankara Ulucanlar Prison inspired his book Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar. She learned screenwriting while working with director Tunç Başaran and art director Jale Başaran, who wanted to adapt the book for the cinema. Feride Çiçekoğlu, who continued her screenwriting career with the 1990 Swiss film Reise der Hoffnung (Journey of Hope), directed by Xavier Koller and winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, built a new academic career in cinema. Çiçekoğlu, who became a professor in this field in 2007, has authored a trilogy focusing on Istanbul films through the lens of gender issues, along with her English publications: Vesikalı Şehir (2007), Şehrin İtirazı (2015), and İsyankâr Şehir (2019).
Çiçekoğlu was honoured at the International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival with the "Best Screenplay" award in 1989 for Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar and the "Golden Orange National Film Competition Cahide Sonku Award" in 2021.
The films Kumun Tadı (2014) and Aniden (2022), which he co-wrote with Melisa Önel, had their world premieres in Berlin and Tokyo. Production preparations are underway for their third co-written film, Pivot. Çiçekoğlu, who shares her nearly forty years of screenwriting experience with younger generations through his latest book, Bir Senaryo Yazalım (2025), continues to teach architecture, literature, psychology, and screenwriting at Istanbul Bilgi University.
"The Young Filmmaker Achievement Award" will be presented to Cansu Baydar.
Cansu Baydar, a graduate of Bahçeşehir University's Department of Cinema and Television, directed the short documentary "This Is Afreeka" in 2014, which features interviews with refugees who occupied a park in Berlin. She worked as a director and production assistant on Berkun Oya's series Bir Başkadır (2020) and the film Cici (2022). Kaan Müjdeci served as screenwriter and assistant director to the film Iguana Tokyo (2022) and the TV series Hamlet (2021). Her first short film, "Neredeyse Kesinlikle Yanlış", which she wrote and directed, had its world premiere at the 81st Venice Film Festival's Orizzonti Short Film Competition and its North American premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. The film, selected for over 50 international festivals, was screened in Italy, the United States, Germany, South Korea, France, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Iraq, Kosovo, Romania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Macedonia. Baydar won the "Best Short Film Award in the National Short Film Competition" at the 61st Antalya International Golden Orange Film Festival with his film "Neredeyse Kesinlikle Yalnış," which had its Turkish premiere in Antalya.
Best Short Film at the Baku International Film Festival's International Competition, Best Fiction Film at the Izmir Short Film Festival, Best Actor (Rahaf Armanazi), and Best Cinematographer (Barış Özbiçer), Audience Award at the Landshut Short Film Festival, Best Short Film at the Akbank Short Film Festival, Best Short Film at the Disabled-Friendly Films Festival, Best Short Film at the Sinop Film Festival, Best Short Film and Best Director at the Sinepark Short Film Festival, Best Director at the FILMAY Short Film Festival, Best Actor (Rahaf Armanazi) and Best Director at the Kaş Film Festival, was also selected as the best short film of 2024 at the SİYAD Turkish Cinema Awards.
The "Labour and Achievement Awards" of the 62nd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival will be presented at the festival's opening ceremony..
