In this talk, Christian Routh will pass on some tips about how to work effectively and harmoniously with experienced script analysts. It is vital that analysts respect the filmmaker’s vision of what they are trying to achieve and prioritize the quality of the project above all else. They are not re-writers as such but represent a cultural and industrial view of how best to assist the writer(s) in taking the script forward to maximize its potential. In a way, the analyst acts as the first spectator of the film, trying to visualize how it will work on screen and helping the writer to find the best solutions to improve it and make it connect with an audience. It is a collaboration that requires mutual trust and faith, without confrontation, without ego, and with a common goal.
