Food inflation is the current agenda in 2021’s Turkey, but who produces, or is unable to produce, the foods that hit the counters at shocking prices? Human life depends on the food supply chain. The supplier on the other hand, is stuck in a cycle heading to an inevitable solitude. Dependent examines the concept of dependence from the point of view of the food producers, and through the lens of where they stand within a world of industrial production and fastmoving consumption. While revealing a disturbing reality, it seeks for ways to reimagine today.

MEHMET EMRE BATTAL

Born in 1980 in Istanbul, Battal studied Labor Economics at Anadolu University and Radio, Television and Cinema Studies at Istanbul University. He worked in digital advertising, social media management and advertising production between 2005-2012, as well as taking part in various documentary films as assistant director. He is the Publisher Director of NotaBene Publishing House since 2012, and works as an editor in various publishing fields.
