Antalya Film Forum Announces Juries!

The juries have been unveiled for the Antalya Film Forum, the co-production market and project development platform of the upcoming 58th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. Hosted by the Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek, the 58th edition of the festival is supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism

Organised from 4 to 6 October under the co-coordination of Müge Özen and Pınar Evrenosoğlu, Antalya Film Forum received 136 applications. A wide variety of fiction, animation, documentary, and series at development phase applied from Turkey. Antalya Film Forum selection committee shorlisted 26 projects for Pitching For Feature Film Platform, Features Work-in-Progress, Documentaries Work-in-Progress, Sümer Tilmaç Antalya Film Support Fund and Series/Short Series Pitching Platform.

A total of eight projects have been shortlisted this year for the Pitching For Feature Film Platform, a category open to feature films in development. These will be considered by a jury composed of: the award-winning director of successful titles such as Wrong Rosary, Yozgat Blues, and The Announcement, Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun, MK2 sales representative Olivier Barbier, and the producer Roshanak Behesht Nedjad. Two projects in this platform will each be awarded TL30 thousand, while a third project will receive TRT Feature Pitching Award worth TL30 thousand, and another for Film Standartları Postproduction Award

The Antalya Film Forum Features Work-in-Progress Platform, which provides funding and networking support to newly emerging projects, will be presided over by a jury made up of the following members: Jean-Benoit Henry, sales representative of Les Films du Losange, Justine Barda, the programmer of Seattle Film Festival and producer and Nisan Dağ, award-winning director of, among other titles, When I’m Done Dying, Features Work-in-Progress Jury will award one project TL80 thousand and one project TL40 thousand. The category includes two further prizes, Başka Sinema Distribution and Promotion Award, and Creative Productions Colour Correction Award.

The Documentaries Work-in-Progress Platform supports documentary projects that are either nearing the end of shooting or in post-production. The five projects shortlisted for the category will be judged by: the founder of Europe Documentary Association Brigid O’Shea, award-winning documentary filmmaker Hans Robert Eisenhauer, and the director of critically acclaimed documentary Mimaroglu: the Robinson of Manhattan Island Serdar Kökçeoğlu. Two of the selected projects will each be awarded cash prizes of TL30 thousand. Additionally, projects will compete for three awards: Sound Post ProductionAward by Postbıyık Post Production, Film Standartları Colour Correction Award, and Başka Sinema Distribution Award.

Sümer Tilmaç Antalya Film Support Fund section of Antalya Film Forum supports feature-length film projects which will be filmed on location in Antalya. The shortlisted three projects will compete for TL150 thousand funding prize and Postproduction Award byFono Film. The jury line-up for the category is as follows: Burak Göral, producer and scripwriter Emine Yıldırım, co-founder of Bir Film and Başka Sinema and producer Ersan Çongar.

A total of five projects are shortlisted for the Series/Short Series Pitching Platform, which was introduced last year to reflect the growing role and importance of series / short series in the audiovisual industry. The jury consists of Deniz Şaşmaz from BluTV, series manager at ZDF/ARTE Olaf Grunert, and manager of the Belgian series production company Dramadama Serge Bierset. This year the jury will award one project TL35 thousand cash prize given by BluTV. One project will be awarded Colour Correction Award by Colour Up and one project will receive Project Bible Design Award by Daire Creative

The Antalya Film Forum Awards will be presented at an Awards Ceremony on the evening of October 6, 2021.


In addition to pitching, competition, and one-on-one meetings this year, Antalya Film Forum features workshops, masterclasses, and talks under Forum+ section to reach out to the film professionals and everyone interested in film. These activities will take place online between 4-7 October. 

BAFTA-nominated scriptwriter Olivia Hetreed, who adapted Girl with a Pearl Earring and Wuthering Heights for screen, will give a masterclass in the scope of Forum+. The event entitled Screen Adaptations of Literary Works is organised in collaboration with Spaces of Culture, and will include a special section on literature from Turkey as well.

Another event is Q&A with Ed Guiney: How to produce a successful series? Ed Guiney is the BAFTA- and Oscar-nominated producer of many successful titles, among which The Souvenir: Part II, Home, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Lobster, The Wind that Shakes the Barley. Guiney also produced the critically acclaimed series Normal People.

The support of KUDA (Film Editors Society of Turkey), there will be an online panel focusing on the editing process of feature-length films.

With the collaboration of APostLab, which is an established training program on post-production for film professionals, a workshop will be organised on Managing the Post-production Phase in Co-Productions. There will also be an EAVE labelled workshop on Marketing and Audience Development with the collaboration of Spaces of Culture. Under the guidance of Álvaro Vega, the participants will learn about the marketing in film, spanning from its shooting to its theatrical distribution. 

Other workshops in the Forum+ programme are Film Poster Design as a Marketing Tool by Arda Aktaş from Daire Creative and Colour Correction by Levent Öztürk.

The 58th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival is headed by the Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek. The administrative director of the festival is Cansel Tuncer, the director Ahmet Boyacıoğlu, and artistic director Başak Emre.
